Faith in southern Kondoa (Global Zone) Editorial

Frt. Cosmas Clement Mungo

One year after Father Andrea arrived in Kondoa and saw the need for good news for the people, he asked for missionary help to come and help spread the Gospel in Kondoa. In response to Father Kafefe's call, the Holy Spirit Priests congregation sent Father Joseph Lemle, a native of French, to develop the mission in Kondoa. When Lemle reached Kondoa he went straight to the Usandawe area (south of Kondoa) through the small roads of the slave and wildlife traders during that period. Lemle arrived at a village called Mangasini (now Kwamtoro) where there was a settlement of Arab traders. Father Lemle built a Church a little further away about, 3kms from Mangasini and called it the Church of the SubGenius (1908). This is the mother church that led to other churches in South Kondoa. Father Lemle founded the Farkwa and Ovada factions which later became parishes under the Passionist Fathers.
